Dear families,
We are hosting Level 2 Bikeability at Wicor Primary School at the start of the summer holidays for all pupils in Year 5 and 6. The training is available on a range of dates but must be booked in advance.
This is a half-day Level 2 Bikeability course is for those who can already cycle and are looking to improve their awareness and safety on the roads. The first part of the session is conducted on a playground assessing basic cycling skills and ensuring that students are safe to participate with on the road training, followed by on-road cycling using quiet residential streets. The main aim of the course is that the children will be able to make a short journey in a safer manner and be more aware of road safety issues.
In order to participate in the course, children must be a confident rider, show control when cycling one-handed and be able to go out on to the roads. Each child will need a fully operational bike with two working brakes and a cycle helmet (we have some available on request) to participate.
More detailed information and booking information can be found on this link: Level 2 (Year 5+) Bikeability Training - Wicor Primary School, Fareham – Hampshire County Council Shop but be quick, places are limited!

Dear Parents of Year 6
As you know, reports were due to go out to the whole school this week and we were hoping to send out Year 6 reports with the SATs results which were due out yesterday. However, you may have heard that the government has announced a delay to the release of this year's Key Stage 2 (KS2) test results, which affects all schools nationally.
Schools were due to receive results on 7 July 2026. However, Pearson Education Limited, the provider responsible for administering, marking, and returning Key Stage 2 results to schools has informed the Department for Education of a delay affecting the national system used to make results available to schools. Results will now be available on 16 July 2026.
In light of this, we have decided to delay the issuing of reports so that we can include the SATs results on our reports, which are set up to take the results. We believe this is preferable to sending out two lots of information.
The government has asked schools to reassure parents that the delay is not related to the quality of the tests or the accuracy of pupils' results. Test papers have been marked in line with usual processes. Neither will this have any adverse effects on your child’s transition to secondary school and no action is required from parents or pupils. We will share results with you as quickly as possible after we receive them on 16 July - i.e. 16th July
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
If you have any questions, please contact me at m.wildman@wicor.hants.sch.uk although, to be fair, I do think the DfE should have asked parents to contact them, given this delay is nothing of schools’ doing!
Yours sincerely,
Mark Wildman

Dear Parents
Please can you ensure that all costumes are named and in school by Monday 6th July.
For ease of reference, please see below the original email with details of the costumes etc.
As you will already know, the Year 6 children will be putting on a performance at the end of the academic year. The votes are in! Our performance will be at 5:30pm on Wednesday 15th July. We are now at the stage where we are on the scrounge for costumes and so, have included a list of suggested outfits. We do not expect anyone to buy anything new. Please look at the information below for your child’s suggested costume and provide it, if possible, from what you have at home. If you have any extras for other parts and are happy to lend them, then please send these in also. All clothing and accessories must come in to school in a named bag and each item must be named to ensure it gets back to you. If you cannot provide a costume for your child, can you please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make other arrangements. Your child knows their character/s. Where multiple people are playing the same character, you may wish to share accessories between you to maintain continuity and save on costs.
We are also on the hunt for any props that we are unable to make ourselves and materials. Please take a look at the list below. Any donations would be gratefully received. In order for props to be returned, please ensure everything is named.
They have all got parts to learn, whether it be lines for a speaking part, stage directions for non-speaking parts and stage crew, and of course lyrics for the songs. It would be really useful if you could run through these with them at home.
The name of the production is the Pirates of the Curry Bean and rehearsals are off to a flying start! The songs can be found on Spotify (and possibly other streaming services) if you wanted to practise them at home. The children are really looking forward to showing you the performance and making it a night to remember!
COSTUMES
This is a show full of traditional piratical characters, and effective use of colour can help identify the different cast groups. For example, the pirates can wear traditional red and black with striped tops, knee length trousers, bandanas & striped socks/tights. The sailors can be dressed in naval blue and white, with white trousers, blue & white striped tops and sailor hats. Cod & Hornhonker could wear more elaborate blue & white uniforms whilst Redbeard could have a red “Hook” style costume. The Periwinkle family need a slight pirate flavour, possibly with black and white striped skirts, trousers and bandanas. The natives can be costumed in various ways, from Hawaiian style grass skirts to caveman style animal print. It is essential to keep everything colourful - and remember, you can’t have too many stripes!

Dear Parents of 6RS
I am writing to let you know that Mrs Sillence has had to make the difficult decision that she will not be returning to work due to health reasons. It has been a difficult few months for Mrs Sillence. She has missed the class greatly and for the past month has hoped she would be able to resume work but sadly has now had to rule this out.
For the remainder of the term, 6RS will continue to be taught by Miss Ray and Mrs Nash as they currently are. Mrs Nash will step up an extra day to teach the class on Tuesdays. On Mondays the class will be taught by Mrs Turp and Mr Brignall.
I am aware that this is not the end to the year we had anticipated in September but I know the class will continue to be well-taught and well-cared for the remainder of the term. The children are very familiar with all the staff who will be working with them and the staff, in turn, understand how the year group works and know the children as individuals.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kindest regards
Mark Wildman

Dear Year 6 Families,
We are writing to confirm that the postponed trip to the Rec will definitely take place tomorrow.
We will walk to and from the Rec during school hours so the end of the school day will be the normal time of 3.20pm. Please ensure your child is in school uniform and has suitable footwear, may we suggest trainers as we will be playing games, sun cream already applied and a sun hat as the weather is looking good, and a coat in case the weather lets us down and it is a little breezy or chilly. All children must have a water bottle in school.
We will also be having lunch at the Rec so your child will need a packed lunch. If your child is entitled to free school meals, or if you would like to order a packed lunch you can order this on school grid.
Many thanks,
Mrs Brignall and Miss Ray
