Dear families
Thank you to everyone who has already signed their child up to sing at the EcoFayre on Saturday 16th May.
The first rehearsal took place today, and went really well.
We still have spaces if there any any more children that would like to take part. There are two performances, one at 10:30am and the other at 1:30pm, with each performance lasting for approximately fifteen minutes. The children who wish to participate will sing a selection of their favourite songs from our KS2 singing sessions.
Children will need to arrive ten minutes prior to the start of the performance time and must be collected after their performance has finished, and of course families are very welcome to stay and support the singers! Further information will follow when the children/timings have been allocated.
If your child would like to sing in either or both performances, please indicate this by completing the Microsoft Form - Singing at EcoFayre – Fill in form.
You only need to complete the form if your child wants to participate, and by signing your child up you are confirming their availability and committing to them being part of the singing group on the day.
If you would still like your children to participate, please complete the form by Monday 20th April.

Dear parents and carers,
Disclosing tablet
As part of our module on teeth and digestion, we are learning about how to care for our teeth. We thought it might be fun and instructive to send home a disclosing tablet for each child to use at home under your supervision. The dye within the tablet will highlight both new and old plaque. It is important to be aware that the dye will stain clothing and furniture and it may also leave the tongue bright pink for a time. Instructions are below.
Swimming
Children have been asked to bring a t-shirt and shorts to wear over their swimming costumes next week, Wednesday 18th March, as part of the water safety aspect of their swimming lessons. Please ensure that all clothing is named.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Napier and Mrs. Moorhouse

Dear parents and carers,
As you are aware, learning times tables is a major focus for us in year 4 as it is so important that they have a strong foundation in this as it is so important for a huge range of processes they will encounter in maths. It is also important to make sure they are prepared for the Multiplication Tables Check in June. We are very proud of the progress they have made so far and thought now would be a good time for a reminder of how we learn our tables and how you can support them.
If your child has learnt their tables and are in the process of consolidating them and improving fluency, TT rockstars is fantastic. To encourage them in this, we are setting a minimum of 15mins each week of TT rockstars in garage mode and 2 soundchecks. Little and often is the most effective way to learn their tables, so we are not requiring lots of screen time. This home learning will reset each Monday.

If your child is still going through the process of learning their tables, they will bring home a tables card with the table they are currently working on. They will also be bringing home the step by-step process that we teach them in school, as this is the best way for them to learn their tables. We have attached the guidance as a reminder. They will also be bringing home a maths book in which to practise their tables. They can bring this in to show us each Monday and are not expected to complete the home learning on TT rockstars, until they are confident in all of their tables. They can still use TT rockstars to practise the tables they have already learnt.
If you have any questions or concerns or want help in how to support your child, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Many thanks for you support.
Have a wonderful half term.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Napier and Mrs. Moorhouse

Dear families of Year 4
We have currently been offering Hot Chocolate to children in Years 5 and Year 6 at breaktime on one day a week.
From this Friday we are also offering Hot Chocolate to children in Year 4.
It does need to be ordered in advance, and will cost 30p a cup.
We have set this up as a Club on Arbor, and you can select and pay for any Friday, from 23rd January, until the Easter Holidays. If there is a problem with it going ahead one Friday, we would aim to offer it on another day, or carry your payment forward to the following week.
There is a minimum transaction amount of £1.00 if paying on Arbor, so you will need to book at least 4 dates, or you can send your child into school with the exact cash in an envelope to be given to the office, but this will need to be received by the Thursday before the Hot Chocolate Friday.
If you have any queries, please contact the school office, and we will be happy to help.

Dear Parents and Carers,
We know that many children are excited about creating and sharing content online, and some have begun experimenting with platforms such as YouTube. While creativity and collaboration are wonderful skills to nurture, we also want to remind families of a few important points:
• Age requirements: Most social media platforms, including YouTube, require children to be at least 13 to manage their own accounts. Younger children may only appear on parent-managed channels.
• Online safety: Please talk with your child about not sharing personal details (such as school, location, or full names) and about keeping content kind, respectful, and appropriate.
• Family involvement: If your child is interested in making videos, we recommend doing this together as a family project, with parents guiding what is shared and monitoring comments or interactions.
We will continue to support children in developing digital literacy and responsible online behaviour. Thank you for working with us to keep creativity safe and positive.
Kind regards,

Next week, on Monday and Wednesday, Year 4 will be working outside in the pond area with school staff and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. Please ensure your child has their wellies in school, has a waterproof coat and brings a spare pair of trousers/shorts with them so they can change if necessary.
