Greening Southsea Castle
Some of our youngest and oldest pupils went to ‘green’ Southsea Castle, one of Henry VIII’s fortifications guarding the Solent on Southsea sea front. The children grew sensory plants (edible, scented or textured) as part of the curriculum and planted these at the castle, benefiting the visitors and supplying the café whilst helping the survival of many dwindling species.

Y4 WaterAid Sponsored Walk
On Friday 13th July, the Year 4 children were involved in a WaterAid fundraiser. We baked cupcakes and biscuits, which we decorated in blue for water. In the afternoon, each child walked five laps, which equates to a mile. Even though it was raining, the children were in full spirit. From all of the children's donations and our bake sale, we raised a whopping £1355 for WaterAid! This money was presented to one of the volunteers of WaterAid, who came in earlier in the year to talk about what WaterAid does. We are incredibly proud of the children and this incredible amount will change the lives of many.
Leo - "I enjoyed the walk for water because we got to walk around the field five times with our friends".
Skye - "When doing the walk for WaterAid it was really fun as it meant we were helping other children who need clean water. I decorated my cupcake with blue icing and water droplets to sell in the afternoon".
William - "On Friday, we raised money for WaterAid for people who don't have water in other countries. We did five laps which equalled to one mile and we also did a bake sale where everyone got to decorate a cake or biscuit!"
Georges - "I really enjoyed collecting money for our sponsored walk. I raised £231 for WaterAid to help people in other countries who have limited access to water."
Thea - I" really enjoyed doing the walk for water and I got soaked!"
