For over 10 years, Wicor Primary School has worked closely with Garsons Titchfield under their Growing with Schools initiative. This partnership has provided our pupils with incredible opportunities to learn about horticulture, sustainability, and community engagement. In addition, Garsons has generously provided compost, seeds, plants, containers, and ongoing planting advice to help our gardens thrive and supported us in events such as our annual EcoFayre and the NGS open garden schemes.
Greening Urban Spaces:
In 2025, some of our youngest and oldest pupils went to ‘green’ Southsea Castle, one of Henry VIII’s fortifications guarding the Solent on Southsea sea front. The children grew sensory plants (edible, scented or textured) as part of the curriculum and planted these at the castle, benefiting the visitors and supplying the café whilst helping the survival of many dwindling species. Some of the plants and compost were provided by Garsons.
