School Meals at Wicor

from HC3S

At Wicor Primary we use HC3S as our school caterers. Here's what they have to say:

With over 30 years of school catering experience, our successful ethos is to provide healthy, local, responsible sourced food that children love. Our tasty, freshly cooked, nutritious dishes help your children flourish and reach their potential. As part of a balanced diet, our lunches provide a third of a child’s daily calorie intake, to aid concentration levels and give them energy to focus and to play. We know that providing award winning meals isn’t enough and so, at HC3S we go that step further, by helping schools and the wider community to encourage children, parents, carers to live healthy lifestyles and think sustainably.

Please note that the Monday of Week 2 is now a meat free day for the main Red and Yellow options.  Accordingly, we have made the Macaroni Cheese option for this day a RED choice.

Does my child qualify for free school meals?

There are two different types of free school meals; universal free school meals and benefits related free school meals. Whether you pay for your child's meals or they are free, children are offered the same menu.

Universal Free School Meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal every day regardless of income. Registration is not required for children to have the free meals.

However, schools get government funding for all children who meet the standard free meal criteria. The funding is called the Pupil Premium. To enable us to get the funding for as many pupils as possible, we encourage parents of children who meet the standard free meal criteria to register. This includes parents of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

There are other benefits to registering your child for benefits related free school meals which you can find on our 'Pupil Premium' page.

Benefits Related Free School Meals

Free school meals are available to children in receipt of, or whose parents are in receipt of, one or more of the following benefits:

            No other benefits qualify.

This will give you an immediate response and the school will be notified that you have applied.

Alternatively you can ask the school office to check for you.  Just hand in your full name, date of birth and your national insurance number and we will run the check for you and let you know the results.

Allergy Information:

We always strongly recommend to parents that full registration is made for any child with food allergies, however, if a parent chooses not to register their child for a special diet, the information contained in the allergy matrix will enable parents to make informed choices with their child. The matrix relates to the ingredients available in our current standard menu and provides information for the 14 main allergens. Click on the link below to find out more.
