School Governors
The
governing body acts as a link between the school and the community it
serves. The governors focus on the strategic position of the school and
work on long term development and improvement. They are accountable to
the community for the Head Teacher and staff of the school and must
ensure that the use of resources and the standards of teaching and
learning are in line with government requirements. Governors are
appointed from various walks of life and include parents, people who
work in the local community, staff of the school and people selected by
the local authority.
Governors are involved in activities
such as staff appointments, financial management of the school budget,
pupil discipline, the curriculum, training of governors and liaising
with parents and other stakeholders.
